Dedrick Taylor Jr.
“I see the Americas Young Chef Award as an opportunity to represent my passion for the culinary arts and to show the potential of young Caribbean chefs.”
Dedrick Taylor Jr.
Trained in Tourism and Hospitality, Dedrick Taylor Jr. belongs to a new generation of Bahamian cooks who see cuisine as creativity, self-expression and a way to communicate. For him, gastronomy is a bridge that connects food with culture, history and the place it comes from.
His inspiration comes from local ingredients, Bahamian culture and the traditional methods of his homeland. He enjoys presenting simple ingredients in new ways and works closely with local producers, some of them young people from his own family and community. He is drawn to culinary innovation, the sustainable use of ingredients, agritourism and cultural gastronomy, convinced that innovating does not mean losing tradition.
Dedrick dreams of becoming a professional chef who represents his culture, gaining international experience and opening doors for other young people who want to pursue a career in cooking and hospitality.
